On this day in 1876:
'A WELSH MILITIAMAN SHOT'
At the County Magistrates' Court, Wrexham on Saturday, Charles Gronnow, gamekeeper, was remanded, charged with shooting Robert Jones, militiaman, in Cefn Park on Friday night. The wounded man was taken to the infirmary. Gronnow alleges that the affair was the result of an accident, a scuffle having arisen in consequence of Jones trespassing.
